Shopping

When it comes to shopping, it's a case of quantity and quality. Bath has more - and better - shops than a city ten times its size. It's a shoppers paradise - in addition to all the familiar names and big stores there's a fabulous choice of smaller specialist and independent shops...all wrapped up in a compact, visitor-friendly centre that's a delight to explore.

Bath’s specialist shops are spread throughout the city. Georgian Milsom Street runs north to south through the centre with intriguing shopping street leading off to the left and right and a small archway leading into Shires Yard – an elegant courtyard of quirky and sophisticated retailers.

Bath’s artisan quarter, in and around Walcot and Broad Streets is filled with independent craft and antique shops. Around the famous Bath Abbey, there are a collection of picturesque passages filled with inspired specialities and tempting treats. And don’t miss the famous Pulteney Bridge which shares with the Ponte Vecchio in Florence the distinction of being the only bridges in the world with shops built into the original 18th century design.
